So this adventure is about the horsehair braid hem I did today. There is a whole post coming on the subject dress, she has been giving me so much experience. She's a full service. But this is just the hem on the satin layer I am excited about.
This is a wedding dress that is being converted to a prom dress. I chopped off the train it's got a satin layer with horse hair.

that's the unpicked hem, it's horse hair and then rolled up and blind stitched all the way around. I trimmed and replaced the HHB
I had to serge the raw edge cause it was bugging me I didn't have to though, the original was not that way. Then I turned it and pressed with a cloth and clapper FOREVER.
And I am thinking the rest of the day will be me hand stitching this blind hem....then I looked to my right....It's the handsome, very helpful, very old Mr. LEWIS.
So I did a scrap with horse hair just like the rest of the dress just to see it it would work because time is money and a LOT of dresses have this at least as a layer now, so why not try this. Lewis is always hanging out he never gets to dance with me. Well my buddy came through. There was a little rumple here and there but it pressed out awesome. Lewis is here to help.

I am going to perfect this process, but this Machine, LEWIS MY BOYFRIEND is pulling his weight!
