Code name: Miss McCrumpletits wrapped up
Yinz guys I finally finished Miss Mcrumpletits! Lets review. It's a David's bridal dress from Facebook market place. The model did not love the dress, she just loves me, and it was way to revealing. She didn't like the plunge, and the sheer lace in the back. It was too big, way too long also.
So There was a 9 inch hem, I had plenty of extra fabric, I didn't like the fact there was absolutely no structure to the dress. It was a glorified tutu. No cups, no boning. So I have been little by little working on this forever. Here's what I did. I made a waist day and added a ton of boning and cups to the bodice. To do this I had to unpick so much lace. I also joined together the front plunge for modesty. I used banroll and brastrap hook and eye with the left over lining hem to make the waist say and also added 2 triangles for modesty. So the back will no longer be see through. A dress this size no cups, no boning and backless, where is the support I ask you! This dress did get a snarky nickname for that. I had the bestest subject to work on I believe she came back for 5 fittings. Once I added the structure and the panels, It was still not fitting well because she's small framed I had to raise the shoulders and inch, and unpick all that lace, and trim the armscye and re-ease the little cap sleeve.
Then of course when I retrimmed the armscye it meant going back in to the bodice and moving down some of the boning, and re-securing it with silicone caps, and then sewing it back up and THEN hand sewing down lace, and repopulating some beading. ONCE that fit, I hemmed it, not many layers like 5....in a front sweep but with a taper because it was a dramatic chop. I did an over under bustle. The under layer was a french and the top tulle layers I did american with a clear organdy ribbon in 3 points.
This dress, is all done. I spent longer than I wanted to on it, but it was an adventure, and I really wanted my bride to feel comfortable! Farewell Miss Mcrumpletits!
