Code Name: Miss McCrumpletits. Part 1

This week I a few things in the works. I have grown a few more dresses, but I would like to talk about my latest project, Little Miss McCrumpletits. I got this dress from facebook market place for cheap with tags still on. Its gorgeous on the hanger and on the model. It has it's flaws though. It's a David's bridal, and it's very floaty and soft, no structure. My model is short, and under this dress she still had on her pants.

So Model is not loving the open back. I don't blame her, the challenge is to make her feel comfortable and look great in the provided dress. I don't know if she would buy this, even though she does look very nice.  She requested  to add modesty panels to the back. From the side seam to side seam its shear. So I am making modesty panels. I am also thinking of power mesh to really help her feel covered, skin tone match of course.  Now below I will add another picture of the real problem, the chest. (Code name McCrumpletits) The dress is loose, needs taken in on sides and some pinch darts need to be taken in also. But as full as her bust was, it's not sitting right and its all crumpled up under the lace like a wad of paper. It has 2 linings, and almost zero boning.

I am starting to see why previous owner didn't want to wear this dress. Model would like modesty in the front panel too, That will be added. I pinned her side seams and decided there is lots to do to add structure. I sat and thought on it while I waited for my order with cups and boning to arrive. When I finally did pull this dress out of the bag to work on it, I decided to yank all my pins. I need to add the structure, then I need to see how this fits before I continue.

So far I added a whole bunch of boning, added cups, a waist stay, and modesty panels. She is coming back for a second fitting this weekend and I will repin everything for the take ins, and hem. I just really want to make her feel beautiful. Especially for volunteering for this! Here are the progress so far below:

This was my first dress to add more boning too, I drew it out on paper, it has metal princess bones and a quite a lot of rigiline. Hopefully fitting number 2 will turn out well!

Stay turned for more adventures of McCrumpletits and friends.
